What could possess ATK to make a new binding just to drop 30 grams out of their flagship ski-touring binding, the Raider? Nothing but good old-fashioned detail-oriented perfectionism, of course. Nothing is ever perfect, but with the introduction of the C-Raider, the ATK binding lineup is one step closer, with a binding that sits between the touring-oriented Crest and RT and the freeride-oriented Raider. Two critical changes allowed ATK to lighten up the C-Raider and simplify its usage: composite materials and a redesigned, wider toe piece. The ATK engineers are aluminum-machining experts, but they know the weight benefits of carbon as well, and they used carbon composites to their advantage in designing a more race-style, lighter toe piece for the C-Raider. The toe piece is simpler, with a traditional locking mechanism compared with the Uphill Hardness Variator on the Raider and Freeraider, and has a wider mounting platform to increase boot-to ski-power transfer. Simple, bombproof design just got that much simpler and closer to perfection.
- ATK’s flagship binding for a skier who wants alpine-like performance at a touring weight, now at a lighter weight and in a simpler package.
- Utilizes the key ATK elastic heel travel system to create a higher level of release-value precision.
- Magnetized heel flaps make for easy transitions from flat mode to higher risers using a pole tip or handle.
- 25mm adjustment track to suit different boot lengths.
- Choice of the Freeride Spacer (optional addition) maintains a consistent gap between the boot heel and the ski.
- Claimed weight: 305g
Comes stock with 86mm brake, but can be swapped for other width, or no brake at all. Please specify on your order the waist width of your skis.
ATK truly works unconventionally. While everywhere else “carbon” equals “light and fragile”, at ATK “carbon” means “bombproof structure” at the lowest weight. Innovation is the key ingredient.
C-RAIDER 12 is a new entry in the “RAIDER” family, meant to close the gap in between R12 and CREST 10, both in terms of performance and market placement. Thanks to the innovative “carbon” toe piece a new standard in weight (305 only!!) has been set, super good performance (very similar to the R12) thus expanding and integrating ATK offer dedicated to free touring and allround enthusiasts. The heel part is the same than RAIDER 12 ( 5-12 release): The vertical release is performed by the Cam Release System® that provides an incredible boot retention, a soft heel step-in and the most stable downhill performances on the market; in the event of a big compression the Elastic Response System® allows a natural flex of the ski thanks to an elastic travel (12 mm). The Rear Ski Brake® provides a great braking action with an astonishing ease of use and lightness. The Magneto Heel Flap System® provide a coverage of the different ascent degrees thanks to its 5 walking modes. The fully-adjustable FREERIDE SPACER AL09 is available as an OPTIONAL
New “Carbon” toe piece
The new toe piece, made out with 30% carbon reinforced composite, represents a considerable news for ATK: the material performance (weight/stiffness ratio) and the innovative structural design, leaded to a weight reduction (compared to the R12 toe piece, still with more simple locking system ), boosting performances and stability
at their maximum (compared to the speed touring toe pieces range, still considering around 10gr more in weight).
